How was your weekend? I managed to see the exhibition The World of Charles and Ray Eames showing at the Barbican in London. The exhibition was very inspiring for me. It covers an era of design I absolutely love. Especially Mid century design. I have many design heroes from this era for example Alexander Girard ,Vera Neumann, to name a few.
I was definitely in my element. For me just seeing rough sketch book pages, hand drawing type, all the colour pallets, sample models and film footage from that era was so inspiring to me. All rough and ready ideas all pre computer. Unfortunately there were no photographs aloud but fortunately for you I splashed out and bought the book that accompanies the exhibition published by Thames and Hudson .
Here are some montages from the book of some of my favorite things I saw in the exhibition. I spend at least two hours at the exhibit. My mind sparking off lots of ideas. If you love Mid Century modern design then you will love the charming world of the Eames.
